On Saturday, March 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Elm Grove Pharmacy will host a drug take-back event, along with deputies from the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office and local employee volunteers from Cardinal Health. This event will provide a safe, convenient and anonymous way to dispose of unused or expired medications.

Drug take-back events are an important tool to help combat prescription drug misuse and abuse. According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, nearly 54% of those who misused prescription painkillers obtained them from a friend or relative. The Geisinger Center for Health Research has found that only about 11% of unused medication is disposed of properly.

We encourage community members to review the prescription medications in their homes, collect unused or expired medications and stop by Elm Grove Pharmacy to drop them off.
