Wheeling Water Break Notice

Health Department Advising Business Affected by Wheeling Water Break

WHEELING, WV — The Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department is advising restaurants and food service business, schools, business that have lost water due to the water break on North River Road to cease operations until water is completely restored.

The Health Department, City of Wheeling Water Department and the West Virginia Bureau for Public Health, Office of Environmental Health Services is issuing a boil water notice for customers on 1st to 16th Streets and Water to McColloch Streets in Wheeling.The boil water notice is in effect for 48 hours.

Residents should not drink the water without boiling it first.Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using or use bottled water.Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, bathing and food preparation until further notice.Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.

A 30 inch transmission main on River Road in Wheeling has ruptured and is currently being repaired by the City of Wheeling.

Facilities that can restore water service through paid services or back-up water supplies can continue to operate.Businesses that have public restrooms are also advised to notify the general public or their customers/employees that water service has been discontinued.
