Health Department Issues Boil Order For Water Customes In Valley Grove WHEELING, WV — A 48 hour boil water notice has been issued by The Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department and the West Virginia Bureau for Public Health, Office of Environmental Health Services for water customers of Valley Grove. A water problem occurred at the Valley Grove Pump House causing contamination of the water.Areas affected by this order are from the Ohio County Animal Shelter east, through Valley Grove. This order is effective 10/7/09 and for 48 hours or until further notice from the health department. Water customers should not drink the water without boiling it first.Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using or use bottled water.Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, bathing and food preparation until further notice.Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. The health department also recommends the following steps:Throw away beverages and ice cubes if made with tap water; Keep boiled water in the refrigerator for drinking; Provide pets with boiled water after cooling; Do not use home filtering devices in place of boiling or using bottled water; most home water filters will not provide adequate protection from microorganisms; Use only boiled water to treat minor injuries.
