Three community recycling events are set for August and September to help residents safely dispose of electronics and household hazardous waste.

The Ohio County Solid Waste Authority will hold a Consumer Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 9am to 1pm.  The collection will be held at the City of Wheeling Operations center in the Clator section of Wheeling.  (Take Wheeling Hospital exit, turn right at intersection, turn left onto Hunter Avenue and follow signs).

Accepted items:  answering machines, camcorders, compact disc players, copiers, duplicators, electric typewriters, fax machines, hard drives, laptops, mobile phones, modems, pagers, personal computers (CPU, monitor, keyboards, mouse, peripherals), printers, printed circuit boards, radios, remote controls, stereos, tape players, telephones, VCR’s and word processors.

This is a program provided by the Ohio County Solid Waste Authority for all residents of Ohio County to dispose of their unwanted electronics in an environmental sound manner.  Ohio County businesses, colleges and other agencies are asked to call for more information.

The Ohio County Solid Waste Authority will hold a Household Hazardous Waste Collection on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 8am to 1pm.  The collection will be held at the City of Wheeling Operations center in the Clator section of Wheeling.  (Take Wheeling Hospital exit, turn right at intersection, turn left onto Hunter Avenue and follow signs).

Accepted items:  gasoline, antifreeze, kerosene, paint, paint thinner, used oil, used oil filters, varnish, transmission fluid, turpentine, lighter fluid, rug cleaner, solvents, fluorescent light tubes, swimming pool chemicals, pesticides, auto and appliance batteries.

This is a program provided by the Ohio County Solid Waste Authority for all residents of Ohio County to dispose of their household hazardous material in an environmental sound manner.  Items from businesses or industry will not be accepted.  Participants must show proof of Ohio County residency.

Community Shred & E-cycling event to help prevent identity theft and fraud.  The event is Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the St Michael Angelus Center at 1225 National Road, Wheeling

Accepted items:  appliances (small), batteries, cable, CDs, cell phones, circuit boards, computers, game consoles, ink & toner cartridges, IT equipment, keyboards, laptops, mouses, modems, monitors ($20 tube style only), MP3 players, phone systems, printers, routers, satellite boxes, servers, speakers, switches, telecom equipment, TVs ($20 tube style only), UPS units, video games and wire.
