Free Day Schedule for Short Creek Landfill

The Short Creek Landfill has announced the Free Day schedule for 2026.  The Free Day schedule is for West Virginia residential household trash only.

The Short Creek Landfill is open to Free Day participants from 7am to 3:30pm the third (3rd) Wednesday of each month.  Accepted items include household waste such as garbage, rubbish, trash, furniture and other similar wastes.  Waste that is prohibited includes batteries, construction and demolition waste, E-waste, hazardous waste, oil products and tires.

Only 516lbs will be free, above this weight the participant will be subject to regular tonnage rates.
