The Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department and Board of Health is pleased to announce William S. Przybysz, M.D. as the Ohio County Health Officer. Dr. Przybysz is a Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician at Wheeling Hospital. A Wheeling native, Dr. Przybysz graduated from the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and did his post graduate training at Wheeling Hospital. Dr. Przybysz was approved as County Health Officer by Dr. Amjad, West Virginia State Health Officer. Dr. Przybysz looks forward to serving the citizens of Ohio County and the Ohio Valley. Dr. Przybysz’s appointment is effective June 1, 2021.
In 1832 the City of Wheeling created a Board of Health. In March of 1869 an ordinance passed creating the position of Health Officer for the City of Wheeling. In 1925 the City and County functions merged into the Wheeling-Ohio County Board of Health & Health Department. Dr. Przybysz is the 28th physician to hold the Health Officer position.
