Sanitarian/Environmental Health Inspector

The Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department is seeking an individual to fill the position of Sanitarian/Environmental Health Inspector. The Individual will enforce environmental and public health sanitation laws, conduct inspections, investigations, evaluations and educational programs in environmental and public health sanitation programs. Provides general services in environmental and public health sanitation programs.

May initiate administrative and/or legal action as needed. Technical and computer background beneficial. May perform lead work and cross training of other professionals assigned to the program and be responsible for more complete responsibilities. Public contact and considerable travel are required. Performs related work as required.

Training is required for the position.  Travel is mostly limited to Ohio County; however, statewide travel may be required.  A county vehicle is provided.  This is a full-time position with benefits and a state retirement program.

All interested candidates need to meet the minimum qualifications as stated in the West Virginia Division of Personnel, Classification Specification for either a Sanitarian 1, Sanitarian 2 or Registered Sanitarian (only one position will be filled).
